Verbo TO HAVE — avere

Have, has: possesso e altri usi

~5 min di lettura Aggiornata il 1 riferimento normativo
In breve

Il verbo TO HAVE (avere) è uno dei verbi più importanti in inglese. Forma base presente: I have, you have, he/she/it has, we have, you have, they have. Contrazioni: I've, you've, he's/she's/it's, we've, they've. ATTENZIONE: "He's" è ambiguo — può essere "he is" (TO BE) oppure "he has" (TO HAVE). Si distingue dal contesto: "He's a doctor" = he is; "He's got a car" = he has got. Nella forma "have got" (più colloquiale, soprattutto UK), "he's got" significa sempre "he has got". Negativo: I don't have / I haven't got. Interrogativo: Do you have…? / Have you got…?. Passato: had (per tutti). Per la PL: utile per chiedere documenti ("Do you have your ID?"), proprietà ("Do you have a car?"), stato ("I have a problem"). Differenza importante con TO BE: età ("I am 30" non "I have 30"), fame/sete ("I am hungry/thirsty" non "I have hungry").
